What is Pilates?

Pilates is an exercise program, created by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, which improves flexibility, builds strength, and develops control and endurance for a full-body movement experience.

The principles of Pilates can become part of you—how you breathe, move, and interact with all the things you do. It is not just an exercise you do a couple of times a week.

My Approach to Pilates for Your Body

Every BODY has different needs, and this changes with different seasons of life. Movement heals and allows us to feel more at home in our bodies. I teach to the whole person and my work is trauma informed. I work with you to understand your body’s short- and long-term needs, and my approach to teaching incorporates a variety of movements, as well as breath work, stretching, acupressure release, and nervous system work to tailor sessions for what your body needs that day. We will build toward a body you will feel good inside for years to come.

My passion for teaching movement uses Pilates to help educate and re-educate functional movement patterns so you can live a more enjoyable and embodied life outside of our time together.

We can accomplish your goals through individual in-person sessions in the Rooted Wellness & Pilates private studio or in virtual sessions.

Pilates for Injury Recovery, Pain Management, and Chronic Conditions

I work with clients of all levels and abilities and have an extensive background working with injuries and back pain. My belief in the power of Pilates is deeply personal. When I injured my back in my early 20s, Pilates was the only exercise I could do without pain. Pilates rehabilitated my back and helped me return to running. I went on to complete five marathons injury free!

For those unable to do higher intensity workouts due to illness or a chronic condition, Pilates can support you through those challenging times, as well. Pilates is adaptable, from the high-level athlete to the person who needs gentle, restorative movement. In addition to clients with injuries and back pain, I have experience working with pre- and postnatal women, individuals with osteoporosis, equestrians, runners, golfers, individuals with chronic illness, and those actively aging.

Our Pilates Offerings

Private sessions:

Private Pilates instruction gives you the most individualized way to experience the Pilates work. A private session is about and for you. Your needs and goals are front and center so you can take what you learn in the studio out into your life outside of the studio. Private instruction is ideal for those with pain and chronic health issues, if you want to work out but are worried about going to a gym or other public space, or if you want a session that is tailored perfectly for you.

Full private sessions are 55 minutes. Cost: $105, Packages of 4: $390

Half private sessions are 30 minutes. Cost: $60, Packages of 4: $220

Virtual Mat classes:

Virtual mat classes are 45 minutes in length. Cost: $12-15/class, Package of 4: $48

Classes include a combination of strengthening, stretching and gentle nervous system support. Virtual Mat classes are a great way to add more Pilates into your life, all from the comfort of your home. All you need is a mat and a little room to move! Sometimes we use small props (weights, bands, foam roller). Many of the props can be substituted with household items.

Can’t make a class in real time? You’ll receive the recording and can view it any time for seven days.

Mat classes are offered at a variety of experience and ability levels. They include:

Virtual Advanced Mat: This mat class is designed to push you! We will do traditional mat exercises, while incorporating stretching and work your abdominals, glutes, and arms. It’s a full body workout!

Multi Level Mat: This class is a fun, full body workout. I offer modifications and opportunities to push yourself, if you like, as well as stretching and nervous system support.

I love that you are so methodical when you are teaching. It makes it easy to focus and be in the moment.
